YES referendum campaign strategy oblivious

The seeming ease at which Yes campaigners in the forthcoming referendum on marriage dismiss and even applaud the damage to and removal of NO side material is odd considering the same people would warn of similar actions taken against them in a less friendly reality. Are they oblivious to the danger of the entering and acceptance of such activism as part of a new normal.

"First they came for the Socialists"...  Has this poem suffered a temporarily memory fail in the collective banks? Does the idea of masked individuals attacking their activism sound like the progressive ideal they purport to believe in?

Along side this is the "disgust" they feel that this referendum have to take place at all.  Never mind that the laws of the land have decided it is necessary for it to take place.  The suggestion that it just makes sense or should just circumvent the constitutional laws because a lot of people think it's a hip and popular opinion seems commonplace.  Again do they not see how the same arguments if allowed can be used against their other pet causes?  When the next politician or activist rolls in banging their fist saying they should be allowed force something through around the constitution because it's "in the national interest" and that opinion is something that disgusts the YES activist can they say anything against it without the mark of hypocrisy?

Be careful what you wish for, or maybe in this case be careful how you seek what you wish.
